I proudly identify
the following accomplishments of Archbishop Alemany Assembly during my
tenure as Faithful Navigator during these last four years of my forty
five continuous years as a Knight.
With excellence and integrity, we pursue the principles of the Order:
Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism.
SmartLinks.org - Website from Volunteer
Effort and that of Alemany Assembly
SmartLinks is a
directory of search engines, databases and archives
organized into convenient categories and sub-categories. This site grew
from
Faithful Navigator Elmer Bergman's volunteer teaching of computer
classes at the Redwood
City Veterans Memorial Senior Center, especially a course he called
"Friday FAQ's". It also incorporates his knowledge from being a
Certified Public Accountant with a law degree (Juris Doctorate) and his
life experiences and learning including substantial travel. SmartLinks
is meant to be family friendly and is now ten years old. Elmer Bergman
created and maintains web sites for both the Alemany Assembly 76
(
http://www.smartlinks.org/kofc4th0076.html)
and San Mateo Council 1346
(
http://www.smartlinks.org/kofc.html)
at SmartLinks.org now in their sixth year. Easy
access to the Knights of Columbus web sites is from the Religion page
of the SmartLinks directory.
)
is featured as a "Smart Stop" in the April 2006 issue
of
the Journal of Accountancy by the American Institute of Certified
Public Accountants, a recognition which is afforded only about a dozen
sites a month.

Communion
Sunday
In conjunction with our updating
of the By-Laws, we adopted Communion Sundays for all Fourth Degree
members. We will participate in a procession at St. Mark in
Belmont at 11:30am on the feast
of Corpus Christi on June 18.
We will continue to participate
with
San Mateo Council at the annual All Souls Mass. Please plan to attend
and
participate.
Reminder - Do Not Cause Your Membership to be
Suspended
If you have dues in arrears, please
make your check ($24 annual membership dues)
payable

Color
Corps
The Color Corps of the Knights of
Columbus are the uniformed members of the Fourth Degree. They are
the ones who are most noticeable at funerals and public functions. Again, we invite everyone to join the Color Corps!
We have restricted funds available. Detail of the Color Corps
reimbursement program is at the
bottom of the Color Corps web page at: http://www.smartlinks.org/ColorCorps.html
Notices
It is anticipated that a Newsletter will be
sent to all members twice a year. The monthly Meeting Reminder
cards are generally sent only to Officers. Yet, we extend an open
invitation to all to attend the monthly business meeting. The continued
well being of our Assembly on the Peninsula is very important.
Accordingly, we ask your
participation and support. Your email
address is requested so that the
monthly reminder and news information can be sent by email. Please
provide
your email address to: SK Bernard Cafirma - Faithful Comptroller - bdcafirma@comcast.net
The Fourth Degree
The Fourth Degree is open
to
members in the Knights of Columbus. The Fourth Degree is the
highest and most prestigious degree in the Knights of Columbus.
Upon
knowledge and request, honor guards will be made available
to deceased Fourth Degree members. Our
Assembly also has what is called the "Chalice Program" where our
deceased Fourth member name is engraved on a chalice and presented to a
priest as a lasting memorial.
Thank you to our Sir Knights
for your efforts in
making our Assembly a success! And a warm and special thanks and love
to my
daughter, Diane, who assisted in many ways and at a number of our
functions over the years as well as when I had endocarditis and
subsequent open heart surgery in the past two years. I missed but one
meeting and much has been accomplished. Continue our good work with
excellence and grow our
membership and activities!
Elmer
Bergman, Faithful Navigator
