Chalice Program  Chalice


Our Assembly has what is called the "Chalice Program" where our deceased Fourth member name is engraved on a chalice and presented to a priest as a lasting memorial.

Chalice Presentation - July 12, 2009
    At the installation of Alemany Assembly officers' ceremony on July 12, 2009, a chalice was given to Father Al Furtado for a missionary priest of his order (CSSp) in Africa. Subsequently, it was personally taken by Fr. Paulinus M. Mangesho (CSSp), a member of our Assembly, to Africa to be given to a new priest there. Names memorialized on the base of the chalice are SK Eugene Gilsdorf - San Mateo 1346, SK Rev. Finbarr Horrigan - St. Dunstan 11041 - County Cork, Ireland,  SK Victor Gouailhardou - Marian/Good Shepherd 3773 - Pacificia and SK Michael P. Kenny - San Mateo 1346.

2009 Chalice

Chalice Presentation - February 10, 2008
    A chalice containing the names of the deceased members of 2007 was presented to Father Al Furtado for a missionary priest of his order (CSSp) in Africa at St. Mark Church in Belmont, CA. The deceased members from Archbishop Alemany Assembly of San Mateo, CA are memorialized on the base of the chalice.
    Seven Color Corps members and our Faithful Friar, Father Francis Murray, participated. Color Corps members participating were SK Joseph Wucher, Faithful Navigator and Color Corps Commander, SK Elmer Bergman, SK Bernard Cafirma, SK Duane Darr, SK Erick Muñiz, SK Alonso Silva and SK Peter Lauber.

Chalice Presentation - May 14, 2006
The fourth chalice, in as many years, was presented to Father Al Furtado for a missionary priest of his order (CSSp) in Africa on May 14, 2006 at St. Mark Church in Belmont, CA. Three deceased members from Archbishop Alemany Assembly of San Mateo, CA are memorialized on the base of the chalice.
